We seek dynamic, creative and committed program assistant to provide logistic, administrative and program assistant to a new food security programme which cover east Africa OSIEA’s particularly focus will be on pastoralism, land tenure governance, food system and market access, governance and ant- corruption, climate change and a fair investment framework
The position report to the OSIEA Director and could be based in any of the offices in the region. The Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa promote vibrant, tolerant democracies in the region by awarding grants, developing programme and bringing together diverse civil society leaders and groups
Job responsibilities
· Provide a bold and strategic vision for innovative grant –making and program development by adding value to existing food security efforts within the organization and the region
· Manage the food security grant- making and advocacy portfolio and identify strategies to advance focus areas
· Incorporate institution building and technical capacity development of grantee organizations into programming work
· Conduct relevant legal and policy analysis on food security in the region for internal and external audiences
· Conduct advocacy in collaboration with grantees and constituents targeting government, donor agencies, service providers and the general public
· Oversee any administrative duties connected with the program and mange consultant workings on food security
· Coordinate and provide direction on other OSF programs regarding their interventions to maximize results and impacts
Qualifications
· Proven commitment to the protection of human rights in east African region. Previous work on food security strongly preferred
· Minimum 5 years prior experience in an administrative /coordination role. Experience with experience proposal writing and review preferred
· Extensive computer skills (experience with Microsoft word, excel and data Base required) and ability to learn new soft ware applications
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people
· Extraordinary initiative, creativity and capacity to think strategically
· Team spirit and respectively working and decision – making style
· Strong organization skills and close attention to details
· Integrity, diplomatic manner and professional discretion essential
· Willingness to travel as needed
